Road to Logistics transform lives through training and work
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jen Swain and I work for Road to Logistics. We are a not-for-profit, specialising in working with vulnerable or marginalised people. We help them by giving them fully funded training to gain their HGV license, with a pathway into employment as a driver with one of our employer partners.
Our training goes far beyond the basic vocational learning, we include a suite of modules to help our learners become work-ready, build confidence, and ensure their success. To this end we also offer one to one mentor support from day one of the programme, through to 12 months after they have started work.
We are doing great things, over 83% of the 430 people we have trained so far are now working, going from barely surviving on benefits, to earning around £40k a year.
It is truly life-changing, but the costs involved are tough for a small CIC like us to manage, especially as we grow and try to help more and more people.
It costs Road to Logistics around £3500 - £4500 to train one person to gain their license to drive a lorry. We are looking to raise funds to allow us to continue what we do, so that people like Adrian don't need to sell their television to provide food for his family, or Paul who was homeless and suffered with depression and anxiety due to having no money or a place to call home.
Brad who has 4 kids to support whilst on benefits due to redundancy, or Sherry who as a single Mum, was battling with day to day living costs and a poor quality of life.
Thanks to Road to Logistics, these individuals are now flying high, earning a good wage as lorry drivers, their lives transformed because we were able to give them the tools they need to made long-lasting and sustainable changes.
We would welcome your donations so we can continue to support people into a great profession, providing salaries which will change their lives for the better.
