Road to Recovery for Fang

Hello family, friends, and strangers,

I’ll only take a few minutes of your precious time. Growing up as “me nyuam ntsuag”(orphans ), I’ve always had the mindset it’s us against the world. Seeing my brother Fang become the best father he never had to his children makes me such a proud sister.

At 22, my brother and his wife(then girlfriend) came to me when we were still living with roommates in college and told me they were expecting. I assured them that we will move out into our own place and I’ll help them raise Liam. And then they also had Maddie.

At 25, my brother and sister-in-law had their traditional wedding. One of happiest day of my life was to watch and help them on their special day even without any parents present.

Last week, my brother turned 30 and gave us the wonderful news he will be graduating with his bachelors. In a blink of an eye, life can take a different turn. This past weekend, my brother was in a mountain bike accident that broke his neck and injured his spinal cord. He is unable to walk anymore. For the first time in my life, my brother told me that he doesn’t want to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and I can’t help him.

Fang is a loving brother, husband, father, son-in-law, and friend. He is always the life of the family gatherings. The dancer, singer, and entertainer. My sister-in-law Megan will be taking time off work to care for my brother who’s recovery time is still unknown. We pray every day for them. I want to help relieve a little of the upcoming financial burden for them in these next 18 months as my brother goes through therapy. Thank you for your time.
