Road to Roots - an homage to Butch Trucks' vision for music
Donation protected
Road to Roots is an homage to Butch Trucks's annual Music Masters Camp – Roots Rock Revival (Roots). Launched by Melody Trucks in an effort to continue her fathers' legacy of
musical collaboration as well as his dedication to passing on the passion he had for music to younger generations.
The mission is to continue the legacy: fund future Road to Roots Tours, grant scholarship funds to Roots and partner with music education programs throughout the United State to inspire & uplift young musicians to follow their dreams and pursue their musical ambitions. It has already proven to give the chosen participants valuable hands-on experience, touring stage presence & etiquette, music technicality and so much more, which we hope to continue for decades to come with your support.

Impact Road to Roots:
Established in 2002 “Road to Roots” has already made significant strides in empowering young musicians and fostering a vibrant community centered around American Roots music. Here are some key highlights showcasing the impact of the foundation:
Successful Tours:
Two (2) tours have already been conducted with “Revival” Alumni, including the blueprint of Road to Roots with Melody Trucks's Midwest tour featuring Jaden Lehman (19) and
Josiah Pye (23), spanning from Lincoln, Nebraska to Nashville, Tennessee, in the summer of '22.
- They opened for Bobby Rush at the 49th anniversary of Zoo Fest, in Lincoln, NE.
- The first official Road to Roots Tour took place with the Fitzkee Brothers, Noah Gibney, and Liam Wiedmann on a multi-city tour a week before Roots Rock Revival.
- Included a performance at the legendary Bitter End, NYC. This was a huge milestone for the young performers as they got their feet wet on their first official Roads to Roots tour.
Non- Profit/ National Partnerships:
- In December '23, Road to Roots launched the blueprint of this concept in Austin, TX, partnering with Radha School of Music, an after-school program which equips musicians from the age of 3 to pursue their love of music. The event included rehearsals with students the day before the concert, a meet and greet with the musicians, and a Q&A session with students and parents prior to the event.
- A student-led band named Abinav, whose name sake came from a young artist (age 13) from the program composed and wrote all of the music performed, opened the event, which was a wild success.
- 7-9 musicians from the program sat in on the first set, their age ranging from elementary to high school with musicians as young as 9 years old.
- The event concluded with an Allman Betts Family Revival After Party on the last day of the annual tour featuring Luther Dickenson, Devon Allman, Duane Betts, Larry McCray and Austin musicians at local establishment also committed to the movement Austin, TX’s “Parish”.
Educational Outreach:
Butch Trucks himself would often go into schools including the well renowned School of Rock and other educational institutions and conduct presentations, inspiring young musicians as young as 9 years old. The now renowned Brandon “Taz” Niederauer was an early pupil and has now transitioned from a student to a teacher, showcasing the long-term impact and mentorship fostered by Roots Rock Revival.
Scholarship Opportunities:
Students who attended the event in Austin were so inspired they are now attending the Revival this year and, in the running, to receive scholarships from the funds that are being raised for Music Masters Collective.
