Rob Boyer and Kimmie Romero

As many of you know by now my father Robert Boyer and his lovely girlfriend Kimberly Romero were in a bad motorcycle accident on June 19th 2022, Fathers Day of all days.

While riding home from their camping trip from eastern Washington on I-90 another accident happened ahead of them causing all traffic to come to a stop. I don’t know if you know but Harleys and all other kinds of motorcycles don’t stop as fast or gracefully as a car especially when you have a passenger on the back. From the information that I have gathered from others is my dad had 3 choices.

Go left into oncoming traffic and get hit head on, go right where everyone else was swerving to get out of the way to avoid the stopped traffic. Or to stop on time. Dad tried to stop in time. Unfortunately, he was not able to stop in time and ended up crashing the bike. Dad ended up going over the car that was in front of him, breaking the tops of his tibia and fibula off into his knee and shattering his knee as well as spiral fracturing the tibia and fibula to his ankle.

Kimberly had the most visible injuries as she landed on the trunk of the car. Kimberly had a compound femur fracture and her tibia and fibula as well as four broken ribs. Im very thankful for the others around them that had the knowledge to help them while the ambulance was on the way.

While all of this was happening, I was blissfully unaware in a car on my way to my in-laws for Father’s Day waiting for my dad to call me. At 3:01pm my phone rings and its dad. I answer cheerfully, “Hey you Happy Father’s Day.” With no answer just lots of noise. I repeat hello, dad, a few times and I almost hang up thinking this crazy old man pocket dialed me on his way home. Out of nowhere I hear him yell Harborview. I had no idea what the hell a Harborview was, being from Puyallup/graham. Then he says I’m in a Ambulance honey. My heart sank. Those are not the words you want to hear from your dad when you know he was on his bike, when he already has a heart condition, when you know he just got back on both his feet from a previous accident. We flipped out car around and headed to Seattle to meet them there. We drove so fast that we beat the ambulance there.

Okay so we all know why we are here now. My Dad and Kimmie need a helping hand. Things are starting to add up and add up fast. Robert my Dad is still in Harborview on surgery # 4, we still aren’t sure when he will be done or out. Thankfully Kimberly is home and in recovery but shes still in a lot of pain and is needing help around the house and we are blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives to help in our times of need. Any amount that you feel you can share with these to wonderful care human being will be cherished.
