In Memory of Rob Canning: Scholarship Fund

Donation protected

Rob Canning passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the age of 49. He leaves behind his wife Kara as well as two daughters Gabby and Lydia. Rob would have wanted his daughters to have every opportunity to attend the college of their choice as well as gain skills in a field/profession that they loved.

Since Rob has not only family but colleagues outside the United States, Go Fund Me was chosen since it will support donations in different currencies.

A requirement of creating a Go Fund Me memorial is to set a monetary goal amount. The family is not expecting to reach this amount. It was just the best platform available to allow family and friends an opportunity to remember Rob.

Education has always been very important to Rob and Kara.
He was the first in his family to attend university and graduate with a college degree. His graduation from Birmingham City University with a degree in engineering was a proud day for his family. Rob was always interested in learning and utilizing the latest technologies in his work. Kara has a masters degree and is currently in her 35th year of working in public education.

This love of learning continued as they raised their daughters. The highlight of Rob & Kara's nearly 25 year marriage was traveling to China in 2005 & 2010 to bring their daughters Gabby and Lydia home. Together they read nightly to their girls and helping them with school work was always part of their daily routine. Rob and Gabby have always been avid readers, while Lydia kept Kara busy with her love of animal facts and creating various masterpieces & inventions.

Kara was delaying her retirement from the school district until after Gabby graduated college so she could help contribute towards current tutition costs as well as contribute to the savings for Lydia's future college expenses.

With Rob's sudden passing, the family would welcome any memorials in his name to help secure the future educational needs of Gabby & Lydia.

Gabby is currently in her sophomore year at college while Lydia is a freshman in high school. Both girls are talented, creative and conscientious students. Both girls have been members of the Honor Society and teachers have always loved having them in their classes.

Gabby is currently majoring in biology and minoring in psychology. She is looking into studying abroad before continuing onto graduate school. Lydia is still figuring out what she wants to do, but she is very artistic, enjoys cooking, and excels at mathematics & German.

Gabby and Lydia are a blessing to our family and they are loved by many on both sides of the pond. Thank you for considering supporting their future in Rob's memory. Rob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
