Hello fellow fire fighters,
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader” (John Quincy Adams). When I got to station 7 I was in my 8th year in the fire service and never felt inspired by anyone to do anything but the minimum. Then this extremely confident, humble, chicken legged Captain got the bid at 7 and my career changed forever. I now wanted to be more like this man and maybe one day I would lead a crew with the integrity, accountability, humility and resilience this man led me with. The time that I spent with Rob as the station 7 captain were definitely the most memorable years in my career.
I know there are plenty of you out there that feel like I do. We wanted to reach out and let you know that we’re fundraising to pay our respects to one of the most humble, influential, natural leaders we’ve ever had in this department. As some of you probably already know, Captain Rob Dube is parting ways after 27 years of service with MDFR. Unfortunately, we’re unable to spend time with this extraordinary fireman during his time of celebration, due to our crazy circumstances. Without an appropriate send off, we would like to at least show our respects with a gift that he would enjoy. After some thought we’ve deicide to customize his jeep that he loves so very much. The more we can collect, the more accessories we can send him off to the mountains with. A memorial firefighter type of gift is also in order. I know this is not a typical reason to fundraise, but we felt like he has earned more than just a good bye. These items cost a lot, so anything you can contribute would help. If you had the pleasure to work with the man and learn from him, I’m sure you will be more than willing to pay your respects. And for that we thank you.
