For those that know Rob, please read the below....

On Saturday 11th February our Rob was involved in a gas explosion in a static caravan in Suffolk. This was a space he was using for rehearsals and decorating with a view to moving into in the near future. A space to call his own after so many years of house shares and touring.

The explosion destroyed his caravan, 3 others around it and Rob's car. The fire closed the A14 in both directions because it was so fierce.

Rob was inside at the time and has suffered 40% burns in the explosion, he was first taken to the West Suffolk Hospital, but the burns were so severe he was moved to Stoke Mandeville where the first rounds of surgery were undertaken to save him. Once he became stable, he was transferred to Broomfield burns unit in Chelmsford where he remains sedated and in intensive care as we write this and will do so for the forseeable future. He is going into theatre for additional surgery every few days for skin grafts and work on the burns so they can do their best to give Rob as much functionality as possible moving forward. Especially on his hands.

He has lost his car, personal possessions, all his musical instruments and equipment, all his technology for work and his touring memorabilia which was so special to him as it reminded him of all the amazing projects he has worked on and the people he has worked with.

Possessions can be replaced, but people can’t and whilst Rob has a very long journey ahead of him, we are all so grateful he has survived this.

At the request of Rob's family and close friends I setup this GoFundMe page to provide Rob with something to get his life back together once he is well enough to leave hospital and begin his long rehabilitation. Whilst we still don’t know the full extent of the long-term outcome from this explosion on Robs physical health, we wanted to get things going at the request of close friends.

When setting this up, GoFundMe asks what target you want to set. Well, we don’t really know a target, but hopefully enough contributions to allow Rob to be independent and be the caring and creative person that he is. We have set this at £20,000 and see what happens from there.

If you know others who have worked with Rob then please pass on the horrendous news of the accident but also the positive that he has survived. Thank you so much for your support. If you wish to get in touch with Rob's family then please message this page and it will be passed on.
