Rob Goodwin and Darcie Goodwin

Hi, this is Amanda Harvey and Jessica Swanson. We are Darcie Goodwin’s sisters and Rob Goodwin’s sister in laws. As some of you may know Rob suffered from a stoke today April 2nd. He has a 4cm brain bleed. He is currently in Hartford Hospital where he will stay for the next 2-3 weeks. He he just got out of surgery to remove part of his skull to relieve some of the pressure. They don’t know if he’ll be able to talk, walk, regain use of his right side or have a memory. The next 3 days are crucial. They will be continuing to do scans to make sure there are no new bleeds as they have no idea why this happened to him. Darcie will not be leaving his side. Once he is released from the hospital, he will need to go to rehab for an unknown amount of time. At the moment he does not have insurance to cover any of these medical costs. Also, Darcie will be out of work for an unknown amount of time. They will be left with no way to pay their bills, on top of the medical bills that will be adding up. Any help during this difficult time is greatly appreciated. We will keep everyone updated on Rob’s process.
update 4/3 8:40am
Good morning, first off I would like to thank everyone for the outpouring support for Darcie and Rob! They are beyond blessed to have you all in their lives. I went to the hospital last night so Darcie was not alone. Sam Rob’s sister stays with Darcie during the day. They are doing CT scans every 4 hours to monitor him. He is still sedated and on the ventilator. They got the bleed out, he has a drain in. Doctors don’t know if he will be able to make a full recovery but everyone is staying hopeful. Darcie is only allowed to go only during visiting hours which are 10am-8pm. She stayed at my house last night in Middletown. Depending on how Rob is doing she is going to go home tonight to see Danny and get some cloths. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. And again thank you all so much! ❤️

Todays update so far
He’s still on the neuro department. Just not in the icu anymore. So now he’s in what they called step down, which is still lots of nurses but less critical.
He’s much more alert but still non verbal. And can’t move his right side of his body. Seems to understand just about everything Darcie says. She has him squeeze her hand for a yes answer and he’s been following along.
He doesn’t want to “respond” to the nurses he just gives them looks.
He didn’t eat breakfast but he did eat lunch, Darcie feed him. He ate pretty good. He has a purée diet and thickened liquids.
Thanks again for everyone who has reached out!! Thank you all for the love and support through all of this!! We love you all!
