Help Robert Fight Hemolytic Anemia
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Russ Callahan and I’m raising money for my son and his wife.
For the past two years my son Robert has been fighting for his life. He developed a rare blood disease called autoimmune hemolytic anemia. What this means is that his red blood cells are being destroyed faster than they can be made. There is no cure! He was given several Chemo treatments and placed on high doses of prednisone which is a steroid and is not good for his liver and kidneys long term. The result is that his treatment is causing more harm to his body with the possibility of liver or kidney failure. It is so difficult to face the uncertainty of this disease, but the situation is made even harder because of the economic distress they are facing. This disease is terrible and can’t be properly treated while homeless.
To put his situation in perspective, Rob and Kris were homeless from February to October of 2022 where they slept in the car. I feel ashamed that I can’t help, but am struggling economically as well and living 3000 miles away does not help. I can’t even imagine how hard fighting this disease is, but doing it while being homeless is even harder to imagine. Rob is desperately trying to keep working to maintain his health insurance and pay rent. Unfortunately, their car broke down “timing chain issue”, which means they have no transportation to get to doctor appointments or lab tests.,
I know everyone is going through hard times right now, and I feel the struggle that we are all facing. He is desperate because things are so dire. So I need to ask for help for my son as he faces this life-changing disease. If you are able to share something with us, thank you so much. If you are not, then all of Gods blessings to you on your journey, and may you find help and support to face your struggles as well.
Thank you so much!
