Rob Levash-Milton Planning Board-2022 Campaign

Dear Milton Neighbors:

I am excited to announce I am running for a seat on the Planning Board.  Now more than ever we must adopt a proactive planning approach which will promote responsible development while enhancing and maintaining our town character.  Today many are working from home.  Our residents need safe social spaces to meet.  The pandemic has shown us how our environment matters.  Last year I was elected to serve Precinct 10 as a Town Meeting Member and appointed by the Select Board to serve as a member of the Community Preservation Committee which manages the Community Preservation funds.  The funds advance community housing, historic preservation, and open space and recreation projects.

For the past 13 years, my wife, Jaime, and my two young daughters, Gabby and Reese, have called Milton home.  My children attend Collicot Elementary School.  Jaime and I are very active in our community library, schools, sports, commerce, and neighborhood groups.

Milton must continue to evolve and implement a proactive process.  We are a small community, with big dreams for our families.  We successfully built new schools for our children and made public education a priority. This investment put Milton on the map as one of the best Massachusetts communities.  The increase to our population welcomes new neighbors and brings new planning challenges.  These challenges require a Planning Board ready to address overcrowded schools, older town infrastructure, stalled projects, and a high demand for community housing opportunities.  With over 19 years of experience as a licensed architect and as a Partner at Wilson Butler Architects, my skill set is uniquely suited to evaluate and create planning studies that are essential to our planning board. We are at a crucial point with our environment and we must adopt sustainable building practices to achieve the Commonwealth’s goal of net zero by 2050.

Our town will evolve.  We must work together to adapt to the demands our town faces:

•To expand and use our housing production plan to create more diversity and affordable options in our community housing.

• Identify and create proactive zoning which will promote responsible development while enhancing our town character.

• Provide revitalization tools for our business districts to increase town amenities: streetscapes, proper sidewalks, ample parking, and accessibility to allow for sustainable growth that meets the town’s economic goals.

• Preservation of historic homes and landmarks is essential to maintaining the culture and identity of Milton. Let’s beautify, maintain, and expand our parks & recreation for all to enjoy.

• Create and improve sustainability standards for redevelopment projects as well as new buildings. We must focus on renewable energy, such as solar, reduce pollution and waste, improve indoor air quality, and use non-toxic, sustainable building materials.

• Commit to Smart Growth planning which provides a greater range of transportation, housing choices, and prioritizes infill and redevelopment in our community.

I am proud to live in Milton and confident that my experience, my passion, and my love for Milton make me the right candidate.  I ask for your support and vote on April 26th.

Thank You,
