Rob O'Loughlin....may he rest in peace
It is with a very heavy and grieving heart, that I have to update this GoFundMe page for my brother-in-law Rob.
On January 13th, 2022, Rob passed away at home, suddenly, when the scar tissue around the cancer mass near his heart gave way.
Rob was such a loving person, especially to my sister Laura...he loved her deeply...and she him. Laura and their two children are suffering with this loss in their lives and will continue to seek ways to move forward each day.
With Rob's employment as the main source of their income, Laura and the kids have a long road ahead emotionally and financially to pay for medical bills and get a new source of income.
We ask for your continued help...both financially and with prayer.
Let us all learn from the loving example of Rob's devotion to his wife and children.
Laura wants me to let you all know how much she appreciates your help and prayers.
Sincerely,
Anne Marie Klaske

Original Post:
Rob O'Loughlin was diagnosed with mouth cancer in March 2021. It was a complete shock to him and his family. He does not drink or smoke. The doctors have still not determined the cause of his cancer. He is a loving and devoted husband to his wife Laura, and a very caring father to their two children, as well as a caring stepfather to three. This family urgently needs your financial contribution. Please help them...any amount would be so appreciated. The cancer has returned and spread, and he is suffering greatly. He cannot work, and they desperately need your help.
He and his family have been through a lot.
Here's what we know right now (Laura's words:)
Unfortunately Robs cancer has returned after his radiation and chemo treatments this spring. On his PET scan at the end of October there was a small spot in his right lung and a tumor in his neck extending from his lymph node area to his clavicle. He has just started aggressive chemo and immunotherapy - and it is harsher on his body than before. He has lost 80 pounds since February of this year and eating is still very challenging from the reconstruction surgery and radiation effects. During chemo it is hard for him to keep up caloric intake. And his doctors have advised him to not go to work during the treatment because of fatigue and weakness - which will be ongoing for the next few months. The doctors’ goal, God willing, is for this treatment to shrink the tumors and then he will be facing proton radiation or perhaps surgery. Please, as his wife, I am sincerely asking for your prayers and financial support - to help us face this difficult time in in our lives. Thank you and may God Bless you.
Back in March, when Rob was diagnosed:
The surgeon removed half of his tongue, all the way down to the tonsil area. His tongue was reconstructed by using the muscle from his forearm,
and a skin graft from his thigh. Unfortunately, they also had to remove his lymph nodes on both sides of his neck, and a jugular artery (which caught the surgeon off guard), due to a growth attached there.
After surgery, Rob had to have a tracheotomy tube, and a feeding tube for 5 days. add that swallowing and eating is difficult right now, and for a while due to the re-learning needed to use his reconstructed tongue and swelling -and he has lost significant weight already. Radiation and chemotherapy will also put a strain on that. Making it harder for him to keep his weight up.
Radiation treatments lasted 5-6 days a week.
Rob had to take medical leave from work for 8-12 weeks - as well as his wife Laura, because she had to take care Rob and drive him to the countless number of doctor visits and treatments.
Rob was healthy prior to this and has a long-standing job with a utility company that requires not only physical labor, but speech communication as well.
This Go Fund Me page was designed by Anne Marie (his sister-in-law).
My family and I live across the other side of the country, and this is something I am able to do (other than lots of prayers) and this GodFundMe page was only made possible due to both Rob and Laura's consent.
