Rob Wylie's Alzheimer's Treatment
Donation protected
This GoFundMe page is for our dear friend and co-worker's husband, Rob Wylie. He has been battling with an extremely progressive form of Alzheimers disease for 2 years. Because there is no cure for this disease that affects over 30 million people worldwide, doctor's visits can often lead to discouragement. Through prayer, endless searching for treatments and medications, and countless conversations, Rob has an opportunity that could reverse the effects of Alzheimers. Fortunately, this treatment (known as the Bredesen Protocol) is located just outside of San Diego, CA. However, the cost of treatment is $4000. This does not include the stay or travel. Leslie Wylie is not someone to ask for help, but because Rob is no longer able to work the financial burden has been placed solely on Leslie making this trip rather unattainble despite its necessity at this time. Below is an overview of their journey and the overview of the treatment they are seeking for Rob. Please consider helping make this opportunity possible.
The Protocol provides a comprehensive personalized program designed to improve cognition and reverse the cognitive decline of SCI, MCI, and early Alzheimer’s disease. Continued research and testing by Dr. Bredesen began by evolving MEND into The Bredesen Protocol, which has identified new and previously unrecognized causes of Alzheimer’s disease. https://www.mpi-cognition.com/author/mpi888/index.html
Here is a little of Leslie's update:
I have felt led to update our friends and family on Rob's battle with this awful disease. As many of you know Rob was diagnosed with early onset in March 2015 at the age of 47. He is now 49 and so much has changed in the past 2 years. His long term memory is impeccable. He amazes me every day with wonderful memories from our past. It's the every day things that he struggles with. Rob has always been a renaissance man- he could do anything. In just this past couple of years, he has forgotten how to read a clock, a calendar, how to turn on/off the oven, prepare his own plate of food, follow directions, start simple lawn equipment, work on vehicles, and so much more. He gets up every morning with the will to get better and he gets frustrated beyond belief when he can't remember how to do things. We have learned to be patient and loving and it just hurts my heart everyday to watch my husband, the head of our household, forget something every single day. Alzheimer's is an awful disease and some people tell me that at least it's not cancer or some painful disease, but I have to disagree. At least there are cures and medicines that heal the other illnesses. There is nothing for Alzheimer's. You just get sent home to live your life and watch your spouse's brain deteriorate every day. It's the worst thing that could ever happen to someone and so many people are affected by this disease. God has truly blessed me with the most wonderful supportive family, from my parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins that have helped us in more ways than they can ever imagine. Thank you so much. And I can't leave out our awesome, wonderful friends and co-workers that call and check on Rob weekly. You make his day with every call, note and visit. You are family and we love you!! There are good days and not so good days but we live everyday knowing God is in control and there is no sadness there. As my mom always says, "we choose to be powerful" and that's what we do.
