My name is Kristin and under normal circumstances I'm an independent single mother of four beautiful cuties. Azaryah my 10 year old, Axia Marie my 8 year old, Sir Michael my 6 year old and finally little Mr. Alexander, he is just 15 months old. They are my world, my motivation and my little heroes. We live in Riverside county in California. I have been renting a single family home for the last 5 years here. During that time I have had several issues with the management company and the home I live in due to the fact that the pipes constantly flood my house. The first flood started in 2020 on Xmas eve and the management company didn't send anyone out for weeks. Over the past 3 years I've had several floods without the problem being fixed which has led to a mold issue that is making my family sick.
My children's health is at stake, so I've spent 6 months saving up to move to a new house. I found a beautiful 2 story in the same community, so my kids can stay in the same school. I called the rental agent on the listing I found and went and saw the place, took the kids we all were in love with it. I filled out an application and the realtor got back to me the next morning and let me know that due to credit score the homeowners would only let me move in with an additional deposit. Meaning double the deposit. Rent is $2500 and deposit is now $5000. Okay great!!
It's move in time!! I have a friend who has a truck, so we packed up and loaded it up. My couches, My dining table chairs, my kids clothes, my clothes, their backpacks, multiple paintings off the wall, my refrigerator, all the mattresses, bedding and the washer and dryer. Figured that was enough for today, we'll finish the rest tomorrow. Went home, finished packing that night and woke up the next day for round two. We loaded down the truck and headed to the new house once again. When we pulled into the driveway I instantly noticed the gate was wide open. I specifically remember pulling it shut the night before, and all the lights on the outside of the house were on. Those weren't on when we left. I hoped out the truck grabbed some bags and went and opened the door. EVERYTHING IS GONE!! I mean everything. Even my kids used toothbrushes that they had set on there sinks. My leather couches. lamps, mirrors, coffee tables, numerous kitchen appliances, all the mattresses, all the suitcases full of clothes, the washer, the dryer, the refrigerator, the baby's stroller, EVERYTHING. Including my friends belongings that had been taken out the truck and left behind to make room for my stuff. Through the tears I called the realtor to find the number was disconnected. I googled the name of the management company. It doesn't exist. I entered the address into google and found it listed on zillow under a company called access managment. Immediatly I called them and they had no idea who I was. I wasn't in their system as an applicant and the realtor that showed me the house???
They have no one there by that name. Not only are all our things gone. The $7500 I scrimmed and saved GONE! The house I'm standing in, I'm trespassing. They sent a nice guy from their office out and we called and made a police report, but he said that their isn't anything they can do. I was a victim of a rapidly growing scam where people find listings for rent, break in the houses and pretend to be realtors renting the house out. I can't go back to my house. I have signed an end contract agreement plus its rampant with mold spores. I am completely devastated. I don't have family out here and their father isn't with us anymore, so honestly there's no one who's going to take me and my kids in for 6 months while I scrimp and save again. PLEASE, please help me. I don't care if it's a dollar. I found out today that I don't qualify for any state assistance because of my income. I'm stuck in this financial bracket where I don't qualify but I'm still struggling. Please, anything helps and anything is deeply appreciated. Pray for us.
