Rob Bowden-Triathlon Champs USA

Donation protected

I have been selected to represent my country, Australia, in the Triathlon World Championships for the standard distance event - swim 1500m, cycle 40km, and run 10km.  These are to be held in Chicago, USA from September 16th-19th 2015.

It is a very special privilege to be part of the team, and is quite surreal to think of wearing the green and gold.

The team is totally self funded, and I am looking for assisstance to help get me there.

Some of the costs involved are team uniform, entry fee, athlete services fee, flights and accomodation.

Total costs approx. $5000AUD

I will donate any additional funds over the $5000AUD  to MND, a charity which I, and my running group PCRG, have been involved with for many years.

About Me

As a young boy, I always dreamt of running fast and standing on a podium with a big medal around my neck.

By 11years of age, I was running around the QE2 track with Little Athletics and also swimming under the great coach, Laurie Lawrence.  I felt like a champion!

In 1982 I met all my heroes at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games.  From that day on, I was inspired to become the best athlete I could be, always keeping the next goal in sight.

Growing up I played competitive Squash, Touch Football and Golf.  Years later, at 35 years of age, I began training in triathlon.  I  won a few medals along the way, and in 2011, decided to up the ante and completed my first Ironman.  This achievement opened up the dream of one day competing for my country in the World Triathlon Championships.   Anything is possible.

My Day Job
During the week, I am a Trainer and Assessor for the LLT Group .  I train people in the workplace in the area of construction material testing.  It is a highly rewarding career.  I get to see students realise their potential and achieve levels of greatness which they never thought possible.  I love every minute of it!  I especially love getting to know the students on a more personal level, as it is here where you can really inspire and allow them to see their true talents.

The experience of representing Australia will truly be a special one for me.   My inner little boy is completely over the moon.

Anything is possible.
