Robby Robertson & wife Amanda

January 17, 2019 started like every other work day,  not knowing this day would forever change his life.  While getting ready for work, Robby fell victim to a massive seizure that left him unconscious. After several weeks in the hospital,  a diagnosis of a simple virus that attacked the brain was made. Scarring him with brain lesions and permanent brain damage. Finally he was discharged with home health and IV antibiotics.  Although, struggling with memory issue he was able to return to some what of a normal life.  With all the new medications, new symptoms and side effects starting popping up.  Numerous  office visits, ER trips and hospital stays became the new normal.  Last week a new alarming symptom deemed  necessary for a late night ER trip. Yet again Robby is currently enduring another week long hospital stay with a battery of scans, lumber punctures and medication changes.  It’s been a draining week for Robby, Amanda and the entire family as they have had been faced with a possible diagnosis that no one wants to hear or imagine. Now, with a referral to Duke hospital the journey will continue to ensure optimal care and to get to the root of what is going on.  During this time Amanda has only left his side to care for their children. Unfortunately, they have burnt thru their leave at work and are now facing unpaid time off.  Not to mention the medical cost they are facing.  Although, they have some savings we all know it’s never enough and goes fast with none coming in.
