Robert "Bob" Korff, Sr.
Donation protected
My name is Mary Kay Glunt, and I am fundraising for my sister Nelmarie and her son Cody after the passing of their husband and father, Robert "Bob" Korff, from liver cancer.
Bob worked for many years in the steel mill and at the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, until he retired due to a disabling injury. He and his wife Nelmarie would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this coming December. Bob loved to laugh and was well loved by those who knew him. He loved his model trains and attend train shows, and especially loved his dog Rosie (pictured).
In the past several years Bob has struggled with congestive heart failure and other conditions that limited his mobility. This year he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He was looking forward to starting radiation to prolong his time with us, but unfortunately, the cancer advanced quickly, he became septic, and he was taken too soon. This is a hard time for the family, without time to prepare for his passing, as we had expected to have 12 to 18 months at least, once he started the treatments.
My family and I are starting this drive to raise funds to help his family pay final expenses, including multiple medical bills from his many hospitalizations, and to help them meet their living expenses until other arrangements can be made. His disability was their household income, as his wife was unable to work due to her disabilities, benefits for which she has been repeatedly denied. They worked hard to settle a long-standing chapter 13 bankruptcy, which would have been paid off in the next four months. Without being able to settle this, and back taxes as a consequence of the bankruptcy, they would lose their home. Also, the insurance company canceled his death benefit, so the family has no insurance available. leaving them with debts and expenses that they are currently unable to meet.
Bob's adult children from his previous marriage, and our family members, are helping as we can with the funeral arrangements and other expenses, but more will be needed to keep them in their home and meet basic needs. Whatever you can do to help with this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated. We wouldn't ask if it wasn't critical. Thank you for helping them through this dark and painful journey.
Bob's final arrangements are being made through William F Gross Funeral Home in Penn Hills. He will be cremated, and the Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, December 17th, their anniversary, the time to be announced. We hope his and Nelmarie's friends and family will join us to celebrate him.
