Robert Carey Memorial & Family Fund

March 22nd would be the beginning of a long medical process for our family. Robert was admitted to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for ongoing chest pains that resulted in a need for double bypass heart surgery. Robert was transferred to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center to receive surgery and began to make his way to recovery. A few days after surgery he had complications that led to him being resuscitated. Thankfully the doctors were able to bring him back. However, problems continued with fluid entering his lungs and unstable blood pressure alongside still needing constant care. The doctors believed he was finally in a healthy enough state to begin the rehabilitation process, so he got discharged to a facility on April 22nd. On April 28th we got the worst news at 5am. He passed away in his sleep due to heart failure.

Robert was an avid Baltimore sports and WWE fan. These entertainment outlets were a major aspect in bonding with his children by always tuning in for the Ravens and Orioles as well as Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown. Robert leaves behind his wife Viviana and his three children, Brandon (23), Robert Jr., (18), and Brianna (15). Apollo, the family dog, is already missing his friend and couch companion. Sadly, Robert will miss his two younger children’s graduations and many more memories with them.

Robert has been on disability for about 10 years due to prior health conditions not allowing him to work anymore. The disability money he received has been our way of paying rent every month while Viviana works her two jobs to keep up with the rest of the bills and family needs. Now that he has passed, we no longer have the slight financial security we once relied on. Before his passing our family was already pretty broke and my mom was burnt out from working so they had to take out loans to keep us going. Unfortunately, with my dad’s numerous health problems and other life problems these loans got hard to pay back. It’s destroyed my mother’s credit and the government believes we make too much money for some assistance programs when in reality that couldn’t be further from the truth. We’re also expecting many bills from the hospital that will be hard to pay and will add up fast.

Unfortunately, I’m here asking you today to donate whatever you can. The limit is as high as it is because we have no idea how much will be taken up by bills and other costs. Any money donated will go directly towards Viviana for the family. Some expenditures include memorial and service costs, paying rent, monthly bills, medical bills, and the possibility of moving to find a cheaper housing situation to find financial stability in order to continue providing for her family. We appreciate any amount able to be given and even a simple share or repost could make the biggest difference for our family. We thank everyone who has taken the time to provide for our family in such a troubling time for us. We are not proud of having to ask for money but truly grateful that we may have others out there that care for us. Thank you.
