NYPD finest Robert DiMartini funeral

I don’t even know where to begin.
Dad was my hero before he was the NYPD hero you all know and love him for. He was so much more than just a police officer. I listen to the stories and hear all the memories from people he worked with, people he grew up with, and sometimes, people he was just friends with. Even the people that didn’t agree with him. The one thing we all had in common is we loved him and respected him, no matter what his views were, no matter what he did for a living. My dad was the most amazing man. If I had just one more day, I would be out on that boat with Chris fishing Long Island sound. My dad was the type of man that expected a lot out of you. He expected you to be your best and if you didn’t know how to do that, he would teach you. I’m so grateful for the summers that I lost learning how to build walls and do plumbing and electrical work. Dad always said there’s only one man you should need and that’s me and right now. I wish that man was still standing in front of me, strong, bold, and resilient. I’m here trying to figure out the right words to do him justice. Please forgive me if I haven’t found those words for I am heartbroken. I’m losing my best friend and the man that had taught me everything I know!!
