Robert Distifeno's fight with Melanoma

Robert was recently diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. The diagnosis came 2 days after returning home from a family camping trip.  Medical bills are piling up, which includes a very large medical insurance deductible, and many other out of pocket expenses. The loss of Rob’s income (as a small business owner), as well as his wife Tammy losing her job due to COVID, are making it hard to focus their attention on getting well. Robert is a veteran, small business owner, and father of two great kids and he’s the guy who would do anything (and has donefor many years) to help you out. This family has given so much to our community for years.  It is our turn to step up and help relieve some financial stress for this wonderful family.

After Robert’s diagnosis in early July, his medical team found that his cancer had spread to many areas of his body. The cancer caused fractures in five of Robert’s vertebrae and two of his ribs.  The doctor reported the cancer was in his brain, liver, lungs, spleen, bones, lymph nodes, gall bladder, pancreas and scalp. To complicate matters he has BRAF, a genetic cell mutation which speeds up cell replication. Due to the severe nature of the cancer his medical team is treating him very aggressively with immunotherapy, radiation and medication to target the genetic mutation and high pain levels. 

The family is focused on helping Rob navigate all the treatments, manage his pain and care for his needs.
