Robert Murphy and Family

Hi, my name is Mary and I'm fundraising for Robert Murphy. Robbie is husband to AnnMarie and father to Angelus and Liam. These are good friends and amazing people who live in Orlando, Florida. Robbie is an independent contractor who does the most beautiful restoration work and is the primary income for the family. AnnMarie is a part-time hairdresser and full-time mom and homemaker. Angelus and Liam are in middle school and involved in theater and music. This family is active in their community and has been VERY active with schools for the kids. Annmarie and I met when we were both involved with the PTA at our elementary school and both she and Robbie supported the school with LOTS of time and money from their own business and pockets. What started as a shared responsibility through school quickly developed into an amazing friendship, not only with AnnMarie but also with Rob! They have been there to help when we moved....TWICE....and the second time Rob worked a 12-14 hour day before coming to help us move all the furniture from one house to another.

While they were visiting family in Philadelphia this summer, on July 11, Robbie's lung collapsed unexpectedly sending him to the hospital. Each time the doctors saw improvement and started to remove his chest tube, the lung collapsed again. On July 18th it was finally determined he would need a rather invasive surgery and was moved to another hospital. Right now he is facing that surgery and the bills are already stacking up. Not only is the family currently worried about the outcome of this extreme medical situation, they are ultimately facing a long road ahead with healing and finances. Robbie is the main source of the family income and is facing a long physical recovery along with a future of not being able to do the type of physical labor his work requires. Since he is an independent contractor he does not have paid time off work or the kind of medical insurance a position with a company would offer at a time like this. I have started this Gofundme to try and help offset the expenses the family is facing while still out of state as well as bills (like rent) which will be due soon. Robbie is the type of guy who would "give you the shirt off his back" if you needed one. He is incredibly talented in his profession but always finds a way to create a price that matches a person's needs. He donates time and money to the events at his kids' school, and has been known to work a 12-14 hour day but then still show up to help friends move after he is done working. He would never ask for this help, which is why I am setting this up for him. No amount is too small and any and every dollar will be appreciated. Please help me help this family who has always offered any help they can give to friends, family, and others in need. Donations will go to the family to help with current medical and travel-related expenses as well as bills that are coming up soon. After Robbie heals they will also be facing an adjustment of income because he will no longer be able to do the physical labor his current job and pace of work entails.
