Robert ransom cardiomyopathy diagnosis

Hi, my name is Theresa . May 27, 2023 changed a lot for my family . Robert ransom and I have been together for 15 years and share 5 children children together . The morning of the 27th I found him unresponsive in our bedroom . I preformed CPR until paramedics arrived . Long story short they were able to save him and he was rushed to the nearest hospital for stabilization and further testing to see why his heart stopped . Further tests show that he has dilated cardio myopathy and his heart is only functioning at 20%. After being stabilized and life flighted to Danville Medical center he underwent various , extensive heart testing that confirmed our worst fear . His ejection fraction is only 20% and we are dealing with heart failure . He was on a ventilator for two days and was heavily sedated to allow his heart to rest . Those two days took some of his short term memory and we are unsure if he will get it back . He has no recollection of a few weeks even before all of this happened . To watch him struggle with trying to remember things is truly heartbreaking . Hes always been the sole provider for our family . Hard working , dedicated , motivated just barely begins to describe him . Anyone that knows Robert knows he would do anything to help someone else . Always putting others before himself. We do not currently know what the next step is in this journey . He cannot work . He’s a truck driver and this heart condition will more than likely take away his CDL. That’s how he provided for our family all these years . We will be going back and forth to Cardiologist, neurologist, and everything in between. I will be staying home to care for him so I will not be returning to work as a CNA. All donations will be going toward household expenses , travel back and forth to several doctors in the coming weeks and hotel accommodations to stay away from home for further testing .
