Robert Shaffer's Journey
Donation protected
On April 12, 2023 Bath Senior Robert Shaffer was diagnosed with FSGS, Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. It's a rare disease that affects the filters in your kidneys. When these filters are scarred, they are unable to filter your blood, which can lead to kidney damage and failure. Treatment for FSGS focuses on treating the symptoms and preventing any additional scarring.
There are a few things that can cause a person to develop this disease. More testing is required to figure that out and it is currently unknown if insurance will pay for it. If that is the case we will increase the amount of donations we are asking for.
Right now, we are just trying to help the family out with money they can use towards lost wages, gas and medical bills that have started accumulating.
His main doctor is at OSU in Columbus, but his kidney doctor in Lima will be able to facilitate the Columbus doctor's orders, hopefully to limit the times they have to actually go to Columbus.
If you are able to help, please donate to this fund or you can contact me and I will be sure to get your money to the family. No amount is too small, it all adds up. If you cannot donate, please share this page and keep his family in your thoughts as Robert undergoes treatments.
