On June 15, 2019, Roberta Rodriguez and her Fiancé Scott were at the Rio Grande River when Roberta slipped and fell into the water. Due to the intense rapids she was quickly swept away and was unable to be found.
Mineral County Search and Rescue teams were called in and worked tirelessly in the search for her. She was recovered from the South Fork River on June 25th, 10 days after she originally went missing.
Roberta also referred to as “Berta” was a Mother of 4 and a Colorado Springs Native. She loved the outdoors and everything Colorado had to offer. Roberta was a wild spirit that loved to explore and seek adventure. Her big beautiful smile was contagious and her laugh was unique and quirky. She had a love for different genres of music and photography. Growing up with loving parents and 2 sisters, family was everything to her. Most importantly, Roberta adored her children and cherished the time she got to spend with them.
As you can imagine, this tragedy came as a complete shock to Roberta’s family and friends. Sadly, memorial expenses are only the beginning to the long road ahead. We are reaching out to the community in need of donations to help offset some of the financial burden during this devastating time.
On behalf of the Rodriguez’s and families, we would like to thank the Mineral County Search and Rescue teams that helped bring her home. We would also like to show sincere gratitude to everyone who has reached out to our family with love and support. Thank you all.
