In loving memory of Roberta Meyers

It is with a very heavy heart that we need to update this fundraiser: Our loving mother passed away early Saturday morning.

We are so thankful for the kindness and generosity our family has been shown through this time already and, although our hearts hurt as we try to process this, we know we are surrounded by the love support of friends and family. Our mother has touched the lives of many people and is already incredibly missed. We all have many wonderful memories to hold on to and cherish and although we are incredibly sad and grieving losing her, we are thankful she is no longer hurting.

We will be using the funds raised here towards paying for her cremation and final expenses.

Hello everyone, my name is Meagan and my brothers Justin, Brandon and I are trying to raise money to help our mother Roberta with living and medical expenses, as her life has recently been turned upside down.

In February, she started having severe stomach pains and went to the emergency room to get checked out. Due to what was found on the scans, the ER doctors referred her to UF Health Shands in Gainesville, Florida.

After numerous tests, on March 30th she was diagnosed with Stage Four Gallbladder Cancer which has also spread to her lungs and stomach lining. (adenocarcinoma with peritoneal carcinomatosis).

She is scheduled to start chemo later this month to improve her quality of life. The type of treatment she will receive will give her the chance at a survival rate of at least 11.7 months instead of the median rate of 4.5 months.

Due to the pain that she is in and the treatment she is about to go through, she has not been able to work. If you know my mother you know that was an extremely hard decision for her to make. She has been a para-professional in the Marion County school system for over 15 years, working with special needs children, primarily kids with autism. She absolutely loves what she does and has treated all those children like they were her own.

We are trying to raise money to help with her basic living expenses such as rent, electric and water, as well as the medical bills that will arise, and to help with transportation costs to and from Gainesville for her many upcoming chemo treatments.
