Robert's Road to Recovery

So many people have reached out asking how they can help beyond all the thoughts and prayers for Robert’s recovery.

We, Robert’s family, have set up this page as a way for all of us to do something that will help alleviate some of our family's financial stress.

Robert’s Story-

On Sunday, May 19, 2019 Robert’s life changed drastically.  It was a beautiful day and after so much rain Robert was enjoying a ride on his motorcycle going to enjoy lunch with his friends.  Upon his return, only two blocks away from home on a very low traffic, quiet street tragedy struck.  Robert swerved out of the way to avoid an accident and hit a utility pole resulting in traumatic injuries.

Robert was rushed into emergency surgery to relieve the cranial pressure in his brain which resulted in part of his skull having to be removed.  He sustained serious brain injuries, multiple facial fractures,  broken leg in three different sites, amongst other injuries.

Robert has been in a coma since the impact of the accident.

Robert has undergone a necessary, life-saving amputation of his right leg to allow for his body to better recover from the trauma.

The extent of Robert’s injuries will require a lot of care and therapy as he embarks on his journey to recovery.  He will need multiple surgeries in the near future to ensure optimal recovery and rehabilitation.

Everyone who knows Robert can attest to the amazing, authentic person he is.  The impact he has on those around him is incredible.  He always has a joke ready to light up anyone’s day.  His presence lights up the room.

Robert is an adventurer, full of life.  Traveling to every corner of the world whenever he had the chance. Loved riding his motorcycle exploring different states, enjoyed mountain climbing and hiking with his faithful companion,  his dog Jake.   He partook in Spartan Race events spontaneously to test his physical abilities.

Robert was always looking for ways to make his mom proud.  He graduated college with a degree in Computer Science, attaining various certifications to further his career.  Another one of his dreams was to become a firefighter, he took the civil service test was and was 81st on the list and had just received a visit from an investigator only a week prior to his accident.

The family would love anyone who knows Robert personally to share their experiences and good times with him. Our goal is to someday have Robert read all these messages and videos.

The family greatly appreciates any donations towards Robert’s care and recovery.   Every little bit helps as the medical expenses are beyond our means.  Dorothy,  Robert's mom, has not worked since the accident in order to be at his bedside day and night causing additional financial strain on our family's finances.

Your continued support, prayers, and positive energy will help Robert overcome any and all challenges he faces.

Thank You,

The Grabias Family
