In Loving Memory of Robert Jervis

On Sunday, September 20, 2015, God called for one of his Angels.

Robert Jervis had been battling liver disease for some years now, but in May of 2015, he was diagnosed with Liver Cancer. He tried everything possible to try to cure the cancer, but his liver was already too damaged that he did not qualify for the treatments or transplants available for him. On July 27th, they did try a CT Alcohol Ablation procedure on the large tumor in his liver. They injected 100% alcohol into the large tumor to try to shrink or slow down the growing process. They had Robert go in for a CT Scan 5 weeks after the procedure to see how the procedure worked. It looked like it helped a little, but the cancer was spreading and the Drs stated it was too risky to try it again. On September 9th, Robert was complaining about a pain in his stomach. His wife, Carrie, took him to the emergency room to get looked at. He was admitted into the hospital right away to see what was going on. On September 14th, Carrie and her family received the worst news possible. They had found of that Roberts cancer was metastatic and spread to his lungs. They asked if Chemo was possible or what could be done, but the cancer was spreading too rapidly and Chemo would do worse to Robert’s body than it would do well. Just days later, on September 20th, Robert was called by God to become one of his Angels.

Robert was only 55 years old and was way too young to leave this Earth. He was a loving husband, married 32 years and together even longer to his wife Carrie and a father to 3 amazing children, Jason, Kevin and Ashley. He had 3 beautiful Grandchildren, Zoey, Brianna and JJ, who looked up to their Papa in each and every way. He was also more excited than ever to become a Papa again to his soon to be Grandson, Niel Robert, in Dec 2015. Robert was also a loving son to his mother Ellen and a brother to Bill, Trina, David and Becky. He was also a loving Uncle and a friend to so many people. He was the most loving, caring, forgiving individual on this Earth. He did everything in his power to make the ones he loved around him smile. He was the type of guy that would make friends with anyone on the street. He took the time to talk to people and get to know people. He was a talker that’s for sure.

Robert did not only love people, but he loved animals just as much. He not only is leaving his family and friends behind, but 5 dogs, Ruger, Maggie Mae, Jersie Girl, Peanut and Bruno and  also Callie Girl, who is his daughters Cat. He also made jokes about how much cats were a pain, but deep down, we know how much he loved that little girl. Roberts dream was to train a service/campaign dog to take to Children’s Hospitals to make kids who were hurting, smile. When he went grocery shopping with Carrie one day, he didn’t come home with groceries, but he came home with Maggie Mae. Carrie says the moment she saw Robert and Maggie’s eyes lock; she knew she was in trouble. Robert has put Maggie through many training classes and was just finishing his final course. She has already been registered as a service animal, but just needs one last class to finish it all. Robert’s children will make sure Maggie will continue Roberts’ dream and continue working with Maggie and take her every month to different hospitals to put a smile on people’s faces, just like Robert wanted.

Robert leaves his family and friends way too soon and very unexpectedly. Robert and his wife Carrie have spent so much money on medical bills, trying to help Robert get better; that anything you can do to help Carrie and her family give Robert the memorial service he deserves would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to send contributions to the family directly, please email: [email redacted].

Robert loved so many people, but was loved himself by many more. May he Rest in Paradise Forever.
