Rob's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My name is TJ and Rob has been my friend and mentor for 15 years. I’ve started this fundraiser for him and his family because I know exactly what Rob is going through. Just over 10 years ago, I had my own medical situation and was agonizing about how I was going to heal while continuing to support my family without being able to return to work. This was how I knew I couldn’t sit back and not do anything!
On Sunday, February 25th, Rob’s life ended, if only for a few brief moments. Earlier that day, he was tired, had slight chest pains, and was experiencing shortness of breath that continued to worsen. Eventually, he had April, his wife, take him to the ER, which was an hour away. Unfortunately, he was in the midst of a heart attack. Thankfully, they had arrived to the hospital before he coded, and hospital personnel were able save him.
After 6 weeks in 3 different hospitals, Rob was finally able to go home; however, not without severe heart damage and extra baggage. On March 19th, doctors installed an LVAD (left ventricle assist device) that pumps blood from the heart to the body when the heart isn't healthy enough to do so on its own. This device will hopefully give his heart time to recover until it’s healthy enough to pump on its own. Otherwise, he will go on the heart transplant list, when he is healthy enough for one and a donor heart becomes available.
Rob’s road to recovery is far from over. He has many more doctors’ visits and physical therapy appointments, all without the ability to return to work. Please help provide Rob and his family the security he needs to focus on his recovery and second life. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to Rob and his family for medical bills, food, and household expenses. Give whatever you can. No donation is too small. Share on social media #robsrecovery and email this page!
