Build an accessible house for Robin Nagle!

Hi, I am Sarah Stuyvesant and I am fundraising to build an accessible house for my parents, Robin and Dave Nagle. Robin became a quadruple amputee last year. This house will allow Robin to live more independently and utilize all areas of her home again. It will also bring her closer to family and relieve some of the hardship placed on Dave.

In October of 2021, Robin developed a kidney stone that became a life-threatening medical emergency. The kidney stone caused an infection in her kidney that turned into sepsis. She went into cardiac arrest, had a stroke, and battled many more conditions, fevers, and infections. Unfortunately, the medications saving her life at the time caused the blood flow to her hands and feet to diminish. In December she had both of her legs amputated below the knee and both hands amputated. In January of 2022, after 87 days in the hospital and rehab, she came home! Robin has endured months of in-home and outpatient physical therapy and is re-learning how to walk with her prosthetic legs. She will receive arm prosthetics in September 2022.

The most inspiring part of Robin's story is the faith in God that has strengthened and upheld her through such an arduous journey. She never complains and faces each day with determination. Her goal is to walk unaided by the first anniversary of her illness!

Due to the new challenges of amputation, we are finding that their current home is not conducive to the accessibility that Robin needs to live a more independent life. Our fundraising goal is to raise $50,000 to build a completely accessible house for her. This amount will be combined with the funds we raised from our first fundraising dinner and the amount they make when they sell their current home.

Dave has taken on a lot more responsibility as Robin is very limited with what she can currently do around the home. The new home will be built across the street from my family's home, which will also help to allow us to share in the daily responsibilities more efficiently.
