Let's help Robbie!
Donation protected
We are raising money to help the kindest man in the world, Rob "Robbie" Kearney.
As you may know, Rob fell at home and was ultimately taken to the hospital on July 20th. It was discovered that a severe staph infection orginating in his lungs had moved to his knees. Having been previously replaced, Rob's knees were especially vulnerable to this strong bacteria.
Suddenly, the torn rotator cuff and broken left hand he sustained in the fall were the least of his problems.
On August 4th, Rob underwent a nine-hour surgery to remove the infection; the extent of the damage forced the surgeon to remove both knees. Strong antibiotic pellets and spacers were put in their place. The surgeon later told Rob that the infection had come perilously close to being fatal, but our Robbie is a fighter and always has been.
Without the use of his knees, Rob has been bedridden for the past six weeks. Thankfully, the infection is clearing up and he is slowly starting to heal. Rob is hopeful that they will be able to replace his knees sometime this month. The recovery process will be slow, and prevent him from working for the next few months.
While Rob's medical costs are covered, he is the sole provider for his wife and two precious granddaughters. Between the last six weeks of illness and time out for heart issues earlier this year, Rob has exhausted his vacation hours. His friends and coworkers have created this page to raise money for his family's essential living expenses while Robbie is recuperating. Anything you can afford to give will directly benefit a really wonderful man and dear friend to so many.
Redtail Technology and Edgewood Financial Services are both matching all donations up to $5,000. This means that for every dollar you donate, Rob's expense fund will receive $3: those of us in the financial services business can probably agree that's a fabulous return on your gift!
Today, you have the opportunity to give back to the man who spent his life in the service of others. We are all anxiously awaiting his recovery.
Thank you for your support!
