Maria testing her legs..
We are reaching out to you to help us raise much-needed funding for our dear friend Maria Temmo for her medical walking aid.
Maria is a 42-year-old, she worked as a home care worker assisting the elderly, disabled and mentally ill to provide personal assistance. 2 year ago she lost the ability to walk due to severe nerve leg damage and has not worked since. At the time she was finishing work and leaving an elderly person's house, as she got to the car she fell in the street and could not get up, she tried but just could not. Seeing a Neurologist specialist she was advised that she is suffering from Peripheral neuropathy and the nerves in her legs are severely damaged, she cannot feel the lower parts of her legs. Since then Maria has been in a wheelchair and that’s what she uses to get around. This medical condition has not only impaired her ability to live an independent life, but it has also severely affected her ability to financially support herself due not working and the ongoing side effects such as chronic pain in her legs and is constantly on tablets to stop the pain, but there are times that they don’t work and she suffers from the pain which means she does not sleep.
Maria has being searching for ways to help her to make life more easier so she found a rehab center at Collaroy. The center deals with a company called ReWalk Robotics and is an innovative medical device company that is designing, developing and commercializing exoskeletons allowing wheelchair-bound individuals to stand and walk once again.
Maria tried and tested the Exoskeleton legs and for the first time for over 2 years, she was able to stand, walk and not only that, she walked a long distance without an issue of falling over which was no way possible before. While using the legs she did not feel any pain and had a smile on her face which I have not seen for a while. The other problems she has is the mental aspect being homebound not being able to get out, also bad bowel function, cannot sleep and is in constant pain. According to the many who have used the Exoskeleton legs they have reported reductions in pain, better sleep, and improved bowel function.
Maria is a mother of three Children, ages 9, 16 and 19 and has taken a toll on the family.
We urgently please need your support so that Maria may walk again. The product cost is $150000 which covers the Exoskeleton legs and 2 weeks of training. Please donate generously.
