In this difficult time, we are reaching out for your support for Robyn and Skyler, twins who have lost their mother, Trina Seligman to a long, tough battle with lung disease.
Since she was a teen, Trina suffered from autoimmune disease which initially presented as Colitis. She had surgeries as a teen and bravely managed her disease to lead a relatively normal life for many years. More recently however, her autoimmune disease presented as lung disease, with a slow decline over the past 17 years.
She received the gift of a double lung transplant on September 27 2023, in the hope it would not only extend her life, but she could return to doing things she loved to do with her husband Craig, and Robyn and Skyler. Her soul ached to again ski, rock climb, hike, and even simple things like walking her dogs.
Initially the surgery seemed to go well but complications and more surgeries followed, and with it, a continual spiral downwards. She fought like only Trina could fight, for five long weeks, but an infection took hold that was finally stronger than her, and she tragically passed away on November 1st.
At the age of 16 and just getting ready to spread their wings to fly, Robyn and Skyler are now without their mother - their rock, guide and support. Trina and Craig both highly value their own education and have always wanted Robyn and Skyler to have this opportunity to study and pursue their passions of art (Robyn) and law (Skyler). Like many people affected by events of the last decade and a half, their family fell behind in college savings. Now as a single parent Craig faces the financial challenge of being the sole provider.
Craig is the son of Murial and Bob Avis, and grew up in Flesherton, Ontario. Craig met the love of his life Trina Seligman (from Toronto) and together they moved to the USA 30 years ago. Craig, Robyn and Skyler continue to live in Redmond, WA (just outside Seattle). It is Craig and Trina's hope that Robyn and Skyler will choose a Canadian university in a few short years when the time comes.
We want to help fulfill Trina's dream of seeing her kids receive a college education and have a stable future. Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly to their college education fund and will make a real difference in Robyn and Skyler's lives, helping them to worry less about money and more about healing from this tragedy.
