On January 23, 2022, our family was enjoying one of the rare cold nights we get here in South Florida. Recently moved into our new home, we were enjoying a little warmth by the fire when my son, Warren, came rushing downstairs to warn us he smelled smoke. Before we knew it, a fire had blazed to life covering the entire second floor as we rushed out of our house.

 

We watched from the street as firefighters tried to fight the flames and try to salvage what they could. As we stood watching our home burn we mourned our pet beared dragon, Kaizu, who we weren't able to rescue.

 

The good news is that thankfully everyone made it out safe. There was even a miracle as we went through the wreckage the next day and found Kaizu alive and unscathed. We are grateful to be alive and a complete family unit. Focusing on the positive and taking it one day at a time, we are doing our best and preparing for the long road ahead.

 

We are devastated, displaced, and starting from scratch but so blessed. Thanks to all the prayers, love, and support of our family and friends I know we can survive the challenges ahead.
