Rock Island Service Industry Relief Fund
Today, in response to the rapidly escalating number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the State of Illinois, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that all bars and restaurants will be limited to only delivery & curbside pickup services until March 30th.
In addition to this measure, the general recommendations of social distancing will negatively impact the service industry of Rock Island. Not only does this threaten entire businesses' existence, it will hurt the hundreds of service-industry employees that rely on those paychecks to keep their families afloat.
If you are able, please consider donating to this fund. This fund is aimed at helping those employed by Rock Island establishments who have been financially impacted by closures due to COVID-19.
***Due to receiving significantly higher aid requests than donations received, I have temporarily closed access to the aid request survey. Should more funding be received, the application will reopen. Thank you.***
We can get through this together.
3/22/2020 - Per PayPal policy, I am required to state that my name is Dylan Parker and I live in Rock Island, Illinois. I have no personal relation nor connection to any of the individuals who have applied for relief, via the previously posted SurveyMonkey brand online survey, and have been vetted to have met the posted criteria. I have personally contacted each applicant's (former) employer to verify their identity & employment. After hearing of the Governor's mandate that bars and restaurants had to close or be limited, as a concerned member of our community, I created this fundraiser. The funds raised by this fundraiser will be deposited directly into my personal bank account. Once received, I will divide the total amount raised by 17 (the total number of applicants who have been vetted) and provide a single payment to each applicant via a PayPal transfer. As part of the application process, I required each applicant to provide a PayPal email address. Additionally, if a PayPal transfer does not work, I will contact the applicant directly (I also requested phone numbers and email addresses as part of the application process) to establish alternative methods to get the recipients their funds. This may include Venmo or mailing a personal check, if online methods are unsuccessful. Again, this posting is required by PayPal to begin withdrawing funds from this fundraiser to get the money as fast as possible to our neighbors that are in need! Thank you for your ongoing support!
