Rockland Rotary "All Aboard" Inclusive Playground

Donation protected
The Rockland Rotary Club will be celebrating its 100th year of service in 2024. The Rockland Rotary’s vision for their Centennial Project is to create a well-designed, inclusive playground to meet the needs of all children and adults in our community, as well as surrounding areas.

With excitement, Rockland Rotary has decided to raise funds to help build an inclusive playground at MacDougal Park in Rockland! The playground named, "All Aboard," will be the third such playground in the State of Maine. Our project’s goal is to create a safe place for active, imaginative, and free play to enrich the social, emotional, and physical development for all children and adults.

What is an inclusive playground? An inclusive playground is a place that caters to all children no matter their abilities. This allows children of all abilities and developmental stages to play in the same space creating a safe and nurturing environment for all. Currently there is no inclusive playground in the area where you can take children who are enabled differently to play and build relationships with their peers. This puts them at a huge disadvantage to other children of the same age. This project will create a space where all children can grow and prosper with the same advantages. Lifelong friendships and new experiences will happen no matter the background or ability. For the first time, these children will be able enjoy the park, not just go to the park.

Rockland Rotary’s goal is to provide the financial backing and manage the project to completion. As one can imagine, the construction of such a project is very expensive and their fundraising goal is to raise $200,000. This money will cover the development and construction of the project.

The City of Rockland has blessed Rockland Rotary with their approval and the goal is for the project to be completed in 2024.

Rockland Rotary is asking for your financial support and to help spread the word of this exciting project! With the support of the local community members and businesses, along with potential grants, the Club is thrilled to fundraise for this most deserving playground!

Thank you for your support!
