Rusty & Lady Di's Rockport Recovery
Donation protected
Hi family and friends,
This is Faith Pardue DeBolt in Kirkland, WA. Many of you know how Hurrican Harvey has wreaked havoc to the TX coast and southeast TX. I encourage you to donate to reputable charities responding to the disaster. If you would like to also help someone more personally, my dad, Rusty Pardue, and his wife, Diana Smith Pardue, live in Rockport, TX. Hurricane Harvey caused significant damage to their home in Rockport, ripping off the roof exposing all possessions inside to damage from water and storm debris. Further, dad's restaurant, Rusty's Tropical Grill, sustained substantial damage, destroying the large patio and leaving holes in the roof of the building. The building repairs will be covered by insurance but rebuilding the large patio, which had an outdoor bar as well as a stage for hosting musicians, will have to come out of my dad's pocket. Also, Diana's store, Attitudes and Latitudes, sustained roof damage. Their livelihoods have been put on hold until Rockport gets power back, which is estimated to take 6 months. They are already looking into what recovery assistance is available.
In the meantime, they will need help covering the cost of food and lodging and beginning to replace essential items like clothing and personal care items, along with repairing their businesses so they can get back on their feet again.
It is hard to know at this point what all of this will cost, but anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, if you've always wanted a chance to visit the beautiful south Texas coast, let me know and I'll see if they could use your manual labor. I'm heading down soon to help!
They could use the funds as early as the end of this week to cover immediate food, travel, and lodging expenses. Fortunately, they have been able to stay at a friend's home in New Braunfels, TX which is a couple hours away from Rockport, but they need to be closer to Rockport to begin rebuilding their lives.
They will be able to directly withdraw funds from this campaign to support their needs.
Thank you so much for anything you can give. Please feel free to share. RockportRusty!
