Hi everyone,

As many of you know, my dog Rocky is my entire world. He is like a son to me. I’ve had him since he was 4 weeks old. He’s a good, loving, & loyal boy. In the last 6 months he has started to develop random lumps on his right side near his shoulder. I’ve had some removed already & the vets told me it’s just a common growth that pitbull breeds usually have.

A few weeks ago, I noticed on the side of Rocky’s neck a massive tumor. It felt like he had an avocado lodged in the side of his neck. He wasn’t in any pain , nor did he look like he was bothered by it. I took him to his vet & they told me it was a condition called Celulitus. I spent the money on the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds … but it never went down. Slowly more lumps have popped up and grown around his old incision site.

On Friday, December 16th , I had a horrible feeling.. he had this weird and concerned look ok his face. I rushed him to the emergency vet. The vet took samples from Rocky and concluded that it was a mast cell tumor which is indeed cancerous. The largest is on his lymph nodes. My entire world seemed to fall apart again. I’ve had so much trauma this year & this news just shattered me.

The vet told me if I don’t treat him he has 6months to live. The MRI & X-rays have shown that it hasn’t spread to any of his vital organs yet which is a positive note. Rocky will be having an invasive surgery, Wednesday December 21st to remove all of the mast cells tumors.

He will then need to undergo rounds of monthly chemo therapy. My heart is broken, my pride is also hurt because if you know me…. I hate to ask for anything. I know times are hard on everyone .. especially near the holidays. I have been out of work for a month fighting RSV, but that doesn’t matter anymore … I am now doing all I can to help Rocky fight and beat this cancer.
