Hi GoFundMe, I’m Rocky’s Little Sister, Patty.
We lost Rocky yesterday, March 14, 2023. He suffered a cardiac arrest the morning of the 13th.
Rocky is survived by myself, our parents Steve and Dalemarie, and his world of friends who loved him ever so much.
I’m launching this fundraiser because settling the affairs of any loved one costs too much in this day and age. Rocky also supported our parents by helping with groceries and bills as their income is barely sustainable based from social security.
We will need help affording his cremation, keeping them stocked up on food when they get too distracted to cook, and whatever other expenses pop up pertaining to fees and Things We Can’t Think Of. I just know we’re going to find costs that come out of nowhere when you settle the affairs and estate of a loved one.
I don’t know if Rocky had life insurance, a will, anything. I know we will probably need assistance when it comes to that part of this process.
Rocky was a genius when it came to the world or audio and video production. His coworkers became family. He founded and produced Starfleet Underground, a podcast where he and three other friends conducted interviews, examined Star Trek episodes, and just had the silliest and best times. These things are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the full spectrum of who he was. He was dedicated to his friends. He loved us. He was ridiculously talented in worlds that I never understood. If he even allowed himself, he was stupidly talented when it came to music. Whatever instrument he wanted to pick up, he would make it sing, whether electronic, wind, or string. His ear was something I envied when I had to work so hard to just make my clarinet sound decent. I couldn’t put 5 bars together and yet, he could pluck a melody from thin air. Talented jerk.
He loved our pets. Over the years we have had many a cat and dog to fill out our family ranks. Currently Scotty and Shadow take care of The Robinsons. Rocky and Scotty had a very specific bond with each other that Scotty didn’t share with my folks. He’s sometimes grumble, denying it, but inside we all knew he loved animals as much as the rest of us.
We are literally in the thick of organizing and discovering how to proceed. We want to celebrate his life. We have thoughts about connecting over zoom and even going out to the Hayward Shoreline. Dates aren’t even close to be selected.
I will connect this fund to my parents’ bank account. When all is said and done, they need this financial help the most. If we are able to cover his cremation costs, etc., the funds will help them get a leg up on bills and food costs.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us. We have been blessedly overwhelmed with the love and calls we have already received. It helps us and I think truly bolsters us to keep moving forward. I will be using our Facebook Hivemind for resources and assistance. You can always find me there as I fumble through this phase of our lives.
And no, this doesn’t feel real yet. It doesn’t make sense. But we know there are things we have to do while we wade through. Thank you for helping us out. We can’t do this without you. Truly.
I promise to update you all as much as possible.
