Rod and Tess Koster Hurricane Support

Rod and Tess have always been the first to open their doors and arms to help others when times get rough. From cabin festivities, to Florida getaways, to donating full week vacations for community fundraisers, and the list goes on and on… We now have an opportunity to return the favor.

Rod and Tess Koster own six homes in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. They live in one of these homes for over six months out of the year and rent the remaining homes. Fort Myers Beach is their home. Unfortunately, their lives changed when hurricane Ian made landfall on September 28, 2022. All six of their homes were in nearly 16 feet of water, and the category four winds resulted in significant destruction. There are many unknowns as of now, and it could take years to rebuild. Homeowners' insurance will not cover the damages. And Rod and Tess did not carry flood/wind/hurricane insurance; this is not uncommon as hurricanes of this caliber are extremely rare in that area. According to the New York Times, in the counties where residents were told to evacuate from Hurricane Ian, just 18.5% of homes have coverage through the National Flood Insurance Program.
