Rodney Memorial Bench & Scholarship
Rodney was an amazing friend to so many people and his absence in our lives is a huge loss. While nothing could possibly fill the hole in our hearts, we have struggled to come up with a meaningful way to memorialize his life and continue his legacy of generosity and kindness. We hope this campaign will do both things.
We are trying to raise money to dedicate a park bench to Rodney in a Portland city park, and to put money into a scholarship fund to assist people who need it with paying annual plot fees in Portland's community gardens. The park bench will serve as a place that we can visit and reflect on the natural beauty of this city that Rodney loved so much. It also helps us give back to Portland Parks by helping them maintain facilities that need repair. The scholarship will continue Rodney's work to make Portland's community gardens accessible to all regardless of their economic means. After all, Rodney wanted everyone to be able to grow their own food. We think Rodney would like both of these things a lot.
Thanks to all of your efforts we are upping our goal to donate more money to the scholarship fund! Our new goal of $6,500 allows us to make a donation to Portland Parks & Recreation for the bench ($3,000), get a commemorative plaque installed at that bench ($250), and the rest will be given directly to PP&R in honor of Rodney to the community gardens scholarship fund (minus the GoFundMe site fees).

We miss you so much, Rodney!
