This Go Fund Me page was created in honor of our dear brother, Roger Au. He is a beloved son, a dependable brother, a goofball uncle to his nieces and nephews, and the best daddy to his sweet pit bull, Penny. He is the kindest, most genuine, loyal, generous and beautiful human being we have ever known. Anyone who has been lucky enough to have crossed paths with him will only have wonderful things to say about him. He has a pure heart and he is everything that is good.
On January 23, 2020, Roger was diagnosed with cancer. What started out as seemingly innocent symptoms: frequent headaches, occasional nosebleeds, and the gradual loss of hearing in one ear, turned out to be Stage IVA Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, a skull base tumor and a rare type of head and neck cancer. The 5 most common symptoms of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma are: headaches, blocked nose or stuffiness, nosebleeds, changes in hearing on one side of the ear and painless swelling or lump in the upper neck. If you are not feeling well, please do not brush it aside; you know your body better than anyone. Be your own advocate and see your doctor regularly.
Roger's doctors have prescribed a very aggressive treatment plan starting with 2 rounds of chemotherapy, to hopefully shrink the tumor, then a third round of chemotherapy with a concurrent 35 doses of radiation. Obviously, he will not be able to work while undergoing treatment, so we are asking our global community for help in the form of prayers and, if possible, donations. Any monetary donation that you are able to contribute will go towards medical costs and general support for Roger’s fight against Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.
