Roger Owens, wrongfully prosecuted by the same department that covered up Ahmaud Arbery's murder, has just been released after four years behind bars for a crime he did not commit. Deeply unethical behavior by former prosecutors kept Roger in jail despite evidence clearly pointing to his innocence. The lead prosecutor in Roger's case, John Johnson, recently resigned after several of his high-profile convictions were overturned due to prosecutorial misconduct. When new prosecutors took over Roger's case, they finally made the correct decision to drop all charges.
After four years in jail, Roger does not have stable housing, savings, or basic necessities. He has found a job, but has no means of transportation for what is otherwise a two hour walk; he needs specific shoes and clothing, but the Brunswick Police have still not returned his belongings. This GoFundMe will be used to help Roger get back on his feet and ensure he has every opportunity to rebuild his future after his unjust imprisonment. Any contribution you can make would be deeply appreciated.
