Roger Palm Stroke Recovery
On Dec 2nd, 2020 my dad, Roger Palm, had a cerebral hemorrhage stroke, requiring a life-saving surgery to remove the bleed and insert a drain to release building spinal fluid that was compressing his brain. He was hospitalized for 19 days, 17 of those being in the CCU. Two weeks ago, he had to go back to surgery and have a shunt put in his head so the doctors can re-route spinal fluid to his abdomen that his brain cannot process on it's own anymore.
It's been nearly 3 months since his initial hospitalization and the medical bills are swiftly and fiercely rolling in. Although the doctors have given him an overall positive long-term prognosis, he still has a long road to recovery and is unable to work. During this time he is doing home exercises, follows up with his doctor frequently, and goes to therapy multiple times per week.
Just prior to his stroke, his steady seasonal work ended for the year and he had been denied unemployment. He has also been denied SSI and has no source of income coming in. He would never ask this himself, so I am here asking for him. Keeping his BP low and him calm is top priority right now. It is my hope to help relieve some of this burden so he can stay focused on recovery and not stress so much about how he's going to pay his bills.
If you've read this far, I thank you. If you're considering a donation, we both thank you. Tanzanian proverb "Little by little, a little becomes a lot." Whether you're thinking of donating $5 or $500, every little bit helps and your generosity will not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
With love and sincerest gratitude,
