**UPDATE***
The Rojas family has moved into a rental!
aaaannndddddd being the champs they are, sleeping on air mattresses.....
It's a significant step! However, they found out their home has asbestos, so they have to replace everything in the bedrooms. Most items in main living areas will be salvageable.
This process is proving to be even more overwhelming than we thought.
Please feel free to share this link.
What we’ve collected so far has been used to get them moved into the rental and replace items like mattresses, bedding, towels, clothes, toiletries, etc.
It has been a month, and insurance has yet to approve the full abatement of the home (asbestos removal and cleaning of salvageable items), nor have they received an initial assessment of damage to the house from the insurance adjuster.
A sincere Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for all the support!

Hi! My name is Katie.
Mallori and I have been friends since age 11. I know she would never approve of this. But we all know how the saying goes, "better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission".
So here we are. :-)
---At midnight on Nov. 4th, 2022, during the storm a tree fell right down the middle of their house.
Here is it in her words:
"I’ve been dragging my feet in posting about this, as I just … didn’t want to be all “woe is me” about this. But, I know my people know people and I need help …
Damn near the biggest tree in our yard fell on our house at about 12:30a during that severe windstorm we had on a couple weeks back. We were all home and thankfully, awake. I had taken Remi out of her room and we decided hunkering down in River’s room was the safest option.
The tree hit directly on Remi’s room and basically cut our house in half. The pictures don’t really do the damage justice.
It was terrifying and traumatic. And all the what-ifs are still swirling around. BUT my baby is okay. We are all okay, but we live out of a hotel and need to find a rental. "

Did you know that it takes weeks, sometimes months, to get home insurance to help out?
The adjuster can't even get there until the 24th of November (Thankgiving Day)
Just to remove their things from their home is going to cost thousands of dollars upfront.
They don't even have their own clothes out of there yet.
Everything for the last few weeks has been gifted or bought with their own money.
Currently, they are staying at an extended-stay hotel, and while complimentary breakfast and an indoor swimming pool have their perks, they are itching to find a rental to get into until their house is rebuilt.
Once the rental is secured, they will need to rent furniture to furnish it.
The first priority is setting them up in a home so they can decorate for the holidays and get things back into their routine.
Thank you all for your continued support! Any amount, especially this time of year, is a huge help.
I know they appreciate it immensely.
Happy Holidays!
