Roland Bowers is a graduate of the Alabama School for the Blind who lives in Huntsville Alabama. He is a long time musician who enjoyed playing guitar, writing songs, building guitars, and signing. Roland earned a Network Administration degree from Virginia College and held various jobs in computer related fields, including being a member of the team that developed an early version of a screen reading software that helped computer users who are blind access windows 95. Roland was a guide dog user who helped to raise funds for the school he attended. In March of 2017 Roland became ill and this unexpected medical crisis resulted in amputations of his hands and feet as well as the permanent use of a colostomy. Roland and his mother Nancy, (also a graduate of the Alabama School for the Blind) are ready to adapt and work hard to help Roland through his rehabilitation. Roland knows his recovery will be long but he is not afraid of the hard work to come. This campaign is to help raise money for Roland's medical expenses and home modifications.
