Background
Hi, my name is Teshia Robinson and this is my story of how inline skating went from being a childhood past-time to an exciting opportunity to open a sporting goods store in one of the fastest growing cities in the US. RollATL is more than just a business endeavor. It is a passion of mine that I am privileged to share with you. My goal is to open a shop in midtown Atlanta that welcomes individuals from all walks of life and promotes collaboration rather than competition between the various urban action sports showcased in this video. With your help, I want to support athletes in the minority who love their sport, yet struggle to establish themselves in the existing culture and community surrounding it.
Motivation
From the beginning, this has been a group effort. So many people have been instrumental in making this happen, volunteering time and offering invaluable insights. RollATL would not have become what it is without this collaboration. I hope to continue this collaborative effort, by giving the various sports communities and sport enthusiasts, family and friends a chance to be involved in this exciting new venture.
Objective
We are planning a RollATL opening for next month! I am already completely blown away by how far this project has come. I officially decided to move forward with the store in January and within 3 months we were able to accomplish enough to be planning to open doors in May .
The goal is to raise enough money to help cover the store’s fixed costs for the first 6 months of business--including rent, utilities, and start up costs for store fixtures. This way, a high interest business loan can be avoided so that profits made in those first 6 months can go towards expanding product offerings for customers and promoting the sports we love through advertising, workshops, and sponsorships.
Moving Forward
Your donation is more than just start-up funding. It is a statement of support. Even if you are only offering a few dollars, the gesture is greatly appreciated and I know will count significantly in the long-run.
This is also more than just a fundraiser. It is the official announcement about the RollATL store. By sharing this video, you are raising awareness not just about the story behind the store, but also about the fantastic sports and amazing athletes the store is promoting!
From getting the shop space I wanted a year ago when this was all just an idea to finding people willing to do edits literally the weekend we were shooting, I am amazed by the support that has been shown and the results so far. Stoked to see what happens next and beyond grateful for everyone’s generosity in making this dream happen!
