ROLLING! Summer Film Camp
Donation protected
ROLLING! ASBURY PARK - a summer film series , talks, and short film contest - was crafted in an effort to create excitement and raise awareness about filmmaking.
The ShowRoom Cinema , in cooperation with Carrie Turner and the local skateboarding movement , have crafted an initiative that marries film with recreation and youth education. This project is the first phase of a proposed film and video production summer camp for Asbury Park youth to begin in 2018.
Upon learning about the new initiative, Asbury Park-based community development corporation, Interfaith Neighbors , offered the ShowRoom Cinema a $5,000 challenge grant in support of the 2018 Film Academy. Help us match this generous grant with your donation and help make the 2018 film camp a reality.
While Asbury Park is currently experiencing a tremendous renaissance as a New Jersey Shore tourist destination, the youth in the community are not necessarily being reached by this revitalization in a direct, transformative way. Parents are often looking for the availability of educational activities for children, a matter that both skateboarding and the film camp will help address.
With a curriculum designed to expose teens to the varied creative and team-building aspects of video production, The ShowRoom Cinema is developing this filmmaking camp to run the summer of 2018. Through hands-on training, ROLLING! Asbury Park will teach participants the storytelling element of filmmaking as well as the basic skills that comprise a well-crafted video. In so doing, participants will learn how to work as a team to create a story arc that extends beyond the simplistic ability to capture a subject with a camera phone.
The funds raised will be applied to create the curriculum, pay for support materials, equipment and professionals to provide participants a rewarding, enriching, memorable experience. With your donation, you will demonstrate a show of support toward our youth and their overall enrichment in the arts. One of the goals of ROLLING! Asbury Park is to expose them to skills they might not learn elsewhere, thereby providing a spark for their future career goals.
Help us provide the foundation for that future.
