Roman Karpunin January 28, 2004 – November 21, 2020

Too young to leave us. Roman was taken from this world in a tragic accident where he was pronounced dead upon the arrival of the authorities.

Roman was the middle child of Svetlanan and Samvel. His mother and father met each other and married in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Before immigrating to America, they began their family, having 3 beautiful children, all boys: Gosha, Roman, and Robert.

Roman was blessed with a great deal of talent. From an early age Roman was gifted with an athletic ability. When he was only 8 months old, he began walking and running. From then on, he was a mover and shaker; ready for anything that came his way. In his grade school years he demonstrated an aptitude for music and learned to play the accordion. As well, his skill for strategy gained him the title of regional checker champion in Saint Petersburg 2 years in a row. By the age of 9 he set his sights on art and transferred to an art school. Anything Roman decided to take on, he excelled at, and enjoyed the challenge of learning it along the way.

In September of 2016, Roman and his family moved to Salt Lake City, UT. In his new home he quickly settled into junior high school and advanced forward to Viewmont High School.

Even though Roman seldom smiled in a picture, he wore his smile all other times as a shining beacon of his true character. He loved to laugh and his smile was infectious. He housed a heart filled with kindness, loyalty, and love. His friends describe him as a fierce and genuine friend. Roman was one who put other’s needs before his own and brought joy when one felt down.

Roman’s smile and laugh will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew this amazing young man. His spirt will live on through kind and generous hearts.

Donations in Roman’s memory are being accepted for the family. They will not be returning to work for a bit as they turn their attention to Roman’s brothers and healing. Funds will be tight and we would like to alleviate this stress as much as we can.
