Rome the Basset Hound’s Knee Surgery

Donation protected
Hello friends & family, Sabrina here mom of Rome & Ruca.

A couple months ago, Rome our 1 year old basset, began having a noticeable limp on his rear right leg. Believing it was a sprain or worse a fracture we quickly took him to the vet. Even after X-rays our doctor couldn’t provide us with a diagnosis so he referred us to a specialist. Turns out Rome’s knee cap has “Lateral Patellar Luxation” which means his knee cap pops in and out of place when moving causing him much pain and discomfort. He’s constantly limping or trying to catch his step. He urgently needs surgery in order to stabilize it or it could worsen.

We’re doing the best we can and although he still is the sweetest boy and his spirits are high we notice at times his pain & discomfort. We decided to put a hold on the surgery due to the cost but every vet visit, or prescription refill for pain meds is adding up. Seeing Rome day to day we know now it can no longer wait and going through with the surgery is the only answer to help relieve him of any pain.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank everyone that can help us. We can’t wait for him to be using his legs at full speed!

Thank you God Bless.
