I pray this message finds you blessed. I am reaching out in regards to some health issues that have developed and come to the surface in the past several months in my father.
First, I would like to say, if you can’t contribute there is complete understanding as I know we all have different things we have to tend to and prioritize. I would ask in that space, your prayers would be the most appreciated as we navigate this journey.
My sweet daddy was diagnosed with a diseases called Lewy Bodies Dementia last August. From further investigation by the neurologist, he has had this for a long time and was able to mask the symptoms or count them as stress or old age memory. That’s why most people don’t know they have it they just think they’re forgetful or they’re too stressed and how it ends up getting diagnosed is when they start falling or their hands start shaking a lot, all the physical things that Dad has now. The fact is that this is incurable but he is now able to take medication that allows him to function a bit better and cope with the negative side effects of this disease.
He requires full time - 24/7 care. Since me and my siblings can not provide that, an assisted living facility is where he calls home, where we get to see him regularly.
Due to him not having good bookkeeping the last couple of years leading up to this we are having a challenging time getting him covered by the state.
Because of a couple of receipts not recorded on some large transactions he is being penalized. He is old school and this has definitely been eye opening to say the least. I am reaching out to see if there was any financial contribution you could help with to get him into a comfortable living situation. At this point, he has moved a total of 5 times since August of 2023 and adapting each time is extremely difficult. Some consistency would be really good for his quality of life.
With the penalty being paid, he would be covered by ALTCS and be more stable in staying in the same HOME.
My other older siblings are also involved in this situation and my eldest sister, Tracy has been appointed as the Power of Attorney. We are needing $7,000 to cover this financial burden. Tracy has been jumping through hoops the last several months getting him into places to live that will care for him properly and also sifting through financial information to get him covered by ALTCS. It has been a very tedious process working with a social worker to get this sorted. This is where we have landed.
I wouldn’t ask if this weren’t urgent. WE MUST PAY THIS PENALTY IMMEDIATELY. This is the last chapter of his life and I am believing to have it be as peaceful & stable as possible. Thank you for you time, reading this, and your consideration.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.
