Cancer Care for Ron Lee

On Tuesday morning, our dad went to the doctor for an ear infection. That morning, he was feeling weak and was in a lot of pain. While at the clinic, the doctors noted an incredibly low blood pressure and sent him to the hospital. Once he was at the ER, they hooked him up to an IV and got some electrolytes in his body.

For the last year, he’s been battling some serious pain in his hip and tailbone, and while at the hospital the doctors took some X-rays and a CT scan to see if they could get to the root of the pain.

The results that we got were far from anything we expected. Our dad has cancer - there is a tumor on his left lung, a tumor on his spleen, a tumor on his tailbone, a tumor on his hip. There are small masses on his left breast bone, some small masses on his spine, and a small mass in his brain. As you can imagine - this was not the news that we had expected from a doctor's appointment that was intended for an ear infection.

This hospital was not able to get our dad with an oncologist, so he was transferred to Littleton Adventist Hospital, which is where he’s been since Tuesday afternoon. In the last 4 days he had a biopsy done on the tumors so that we could get an idea of what type of cancer it is, how aggressive it is, etc. He has also had countless MRIs, x-rays, and CT scans to check the extent of the tumors and the overall health of the bones that these tumors are on. In their findings, they also discovered that he has been having small strokes that, luckily, have not left any long term damage or effects to his brain or his body.

Today we start the process of treatment. Chemo and radiation will be used to heal his body and eliminate pain. It’s going to be a trying journey and we are ready to attack it fully. We appreciate any support we can get during this time.
